TOKYO FASHION AND STYLE

Here are some more images from the streets of central Tokyo spring 2023.

I really enjoyed shooting these and so many images of incredibly stylish
young people with such a depth and sense of individuality with their style.
There really is nowhere on earth like Tokyo when it comes to this level of style
seen on the streets. Many cities like London, Paris, New York, Milan, Copenhagen
and others get close, but that's usually during fashion week season.
Not so with with Tokyo. Yes they dial things up up a little during fashion week,
but it's pretty much WOW each and every day all year when it comes to street style,
and fashion sub cultures and style tribes. It's like nowhere else, because that's true.

With that said, here are a few more images I shot, just for you.

JAPANESE FASHION AT KYARY PAMYU PAMYU LONDON 2023 CONCERT

Crazy colourful goings on? No. Well kind of. This is Japanese street fashion,
and individual style displayed by fans of Japanese singer Kiriko Hayama,
better known as Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.

I first photographed the beautiful Japanese in Japan back in around 2010,
when she was a fashion model. That image is featured in my book
Japanese Street Style
She is one of Japan’s biggest exports, and is known globally.

I had Kyary in front of me, willing to let me photograph her, still beautiful at
age 30. But sadly her management team or people did not want some guy,
especially non Japanese to photograph her. 5 seconds was all I needed,
while they took 2 minutes creating excuses. The usual nonsense about
she has no time, then am I professional? Then it just gets worse.

Wouldn’t this blog post be complete with a photo of the beautiful Kyary?
Sorry folks. The usual only photographed and styled by famous celebrity
types, and well known. That’s not Pat Lyttle, Hope it never will be.

So what I will do is share with you the images of way cool, stylish young
people in London, that dress up in various Japanese fashions from its many
street style tribes. All about to see their lovely Kyary Pamyu Pamyu
on her World Tour, in London, at the Earth Hall on June 7th 2023.

I love Japanese street fashion and style. I've been shooting it in Japan,
and outside since 1997. My passion and enthusiasm for street style
will never end.

Check out these cool Japanese fashion looks.
More images can be found here

Isn't she just amazing. She's actually South Korean and packed full of fun

How about some retro Y2K style unique to Shibuya

More Y2K style with the classic Shibuya based Ganguro look ガングロ

TOKYO FASHION AND STYLE MARCH 2023 PART 1

Walking along Takeshita Dori we stumbled across these two colourful young souls.
How cool do these young girls look. Love their style. Can you believe they are
both signed models. Watching them pose for the camera, actually, yes! we can.

This is Koko Kona and Ukari Zuku. Aren't they super cool and colourful.
Packed full of colours, style and confidence, these two really were lots
of fun.
We’re huge fans of these two colourful characters, and hope we’ll be seeing
much more of them in the near future, wishing them much luck and success,
in their careers as fashion models.

TOKYO FASHION WEEK 2023 - PART 2

Tokyo Fashion Week was amazing. Such a great atmosphere all week.
Sadly we missed many shows, as we didn't know they were off location,
as many fashion weeks do, they have their shows at a different location to
the set official organised locations. Wish we could have shot so much more.
But what we have for you, we hope you will really like. There is enough
to see you interested we think, so there will be posts periodically on RFWT.

Here is another shot of way cool fashion designer Ryuu
So much bright and colourful energy in his designs and looks. Crearly
that fun and happy Osaka blood flowing through him. Not the normal stuff.

It's all about the details

WE'RE BACK WITH TOKYO FASHION WEEK

This site of blog has been going over 10 years now. It started out as a homage in praise
of Japanese Street Style, and a very specific style of fashion from Tokyo, Osaka and
various other areas in Japan.  It evolved to people touched or influenced by
Japanese street fashion, but being based London, UK, over the years, the flow of
Japanese visitors into the UK sadly has all but dried up 😔 So the blog had to adapts,
hence the street style from London and Paris Fashion Week.

There have been hints that plans to change this, and go back to our original concept
were in action. We at JSTREETSTYLE are sorry for that very long delay, but good news.
We have travelled to Tokyo and have got you a nice fresh supply of coolness in style,
to keep you all happy for a while.

So please keep watch and stick around, as we promise you, it will be worth it.
The wait is over as we move have actual Japanese street style again. So please enjoy.

As always, all images brought to you by Fashion Stylist Pat Lyttle of JSTREETSTYLE

This colourful cutie is a true star of Japanese street fashion, and one soon
to shine even brighter than she already does. This is Poyo. Adorably cute
This is Ryuu from Osaka, a Fashion Design student with some pretty
cool looks. This is one of the 7 he came up with for each day of RFWT.
How cool is this look? We love it. Original, creative, individual and FUN!
Here's another of our favourites. You can see colourful fun, mischievous
flamboyant Yu Masue at all the big 4 Fashion Weeks as well as at Tokyo.
