Street Style at Paris Haute Couture AW 2015
We recently had the rare opportunity to visit Paris to witness
the amazing scenes of the inner city gripped by the presences of
the amazing scenes of the inner city gripped by the presences of
high fashion society. The glitterati descended not only in numerous
black cars and vans, but some even strolled down actual streets
because of the marvellous hot and sunny weather presently griping
most lands around the globe.
Actresses, models, fashion editors, stylists, elite fashion bloggers
and the outright stunningly good looking assembled for the sole
purpose of catching a glimpse of the latest wares by the titans
of the fashion world. Chanel, Viktor & Rolf, Zuhair Murad, Elie Saab,
Maison Martin Margiela, all names familiar and the many that are not.
To see a show at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week is a once in
a lifetime dream for many. We sadly were not that lucky to attain
that dream just yet, but as someone once said, I think it might
of been the legendary Bill Cunningham, the man in blue to you,
"The best fashion show has always been on the street"
We're all here because we all believe in those words.
Some might argue it might not be as exciting but many
would disagree, as would we and say you can watch an
Elie Saab dress on the catwalk under the lights shimmering
and shining like the stars, but there is just as much magic in
watching that same dress as it was designed and intended,
worn not by a model but on woman who wants to wear it
for more than 20 seconds. To see a woman walking down the
center of a street, the dress floating and blowing in the wind
all in daylight with cars stopping, heads turning from men,
women and children, all with a singular vision. The sight of
real beauty in a special moment.
Our visit to Paris to bring you street style imagery from the
Haute couture season for the first time, we can thoroughly say
was a complete success. Many images were shot, many sights
were seen and people met. Over the next few weeks,
we'll be sharing some of those images and experiences
with you all. First up.
This is Shiomi Nibu from Tokyo but living in Paris. We spotted her outside
the Viktor & Rolf show in a Ukiyo e print dress from Harlem Shuffle with
a harness and shoes from Spins.
